What kind of people would we be if we were more besotted by God’s beauty?

“I received a new baptism of repentance and I know that God was well-pleased. I don’t know, maybe Dad knows something about it too. I hate to think that he never got to witness the fulfillment of one of his deepest longings just because he died too soon.”

Psalm 81: 7 “In distress, you called, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder.”

We believe that if we rest, we will lose the fight. In reality, the opposite is true.

The way we talk about Sabbath sometimes—as a time for rest, celebration, worship, and community—doesn’t always jive with my reality.

That’s what every artist desires. They want to share their creations with those who can appreciate them.

If he could have kept his gaze on Jesus a few minutes more, Peter might have danced on water with Him in the middle of a storm. Jesus was totally game for it. 

When I’m tempted to think that God must hate me or think I’m really stupid, I remember how much I cherish my own children even when they make mistakes or act rebelliously, and I know that God’s tenderness far surpasses my own.

Until we believe that God, who possesses perfect wisdom and perfect love, who knows everything about us there is to know and always has our very best interest in mind, whose every command and every invitation is meant to enhance us rather than diminish us, we will continue to suffer fruitless exhaustion.

I believe that all that clutter affects our souls. Tending to our physical spaces should spill over into the rest of our lives—our bodies, our finances, our time commitments, and our relationships, especially our relationship with God.

If Jesus is calling us to make our home in Him (He is) and if He has something He wants us to see or hear (He does), He will most certainly answer us when we ask Him for help. He desires intimacy with us. He will make it happen. For our part, we start by paying attention to Him.
